Appleton Estate Rum Tour

Your journey from the second city on the north coast takes you through Jamaica’s lush countryside to the home of Jamaica’s Famous Rum, Appleton Estate. Enjoy a narrated sightseeing drive as your guide unfolds Jamaica's history in a lively and interactive discussion. Upon arrival to Appleton Estate, you’ll be welcomed with a rum punch or soda. Enjoy a snack in the lounge before being taken on a guided tour of the estate that begins with a demonstration of the extraction of cane juice as it was in the 18th century. You’ll view the distillery that showcases the different methods of distillation of Pot Stills and Column Stills.

A visit to the Ageing House and V/X House reveals large quantities of rum barrels including ‘Hogs Head’ and ‘Viper’. Also on display are historical sugar artifacts and visitors can crush sugar cane at the ‘Cane Mill’ and taste sugar cane juice and white rum. Sample wet sugar, boiled in large copper pans at the Wet Sugar House, and then, if you dare, taste all 14 different rums and liquors made by Appleton Estate. Before leaving, take some time to browse the hospitality lounge, its bar and gift shops. A souvenir miniature bottle of Appleton rum is provided before your departure.

Dolphin Cove Observer & Beach Break

Set off from Montego Bay, one of Jamaica’s oldest towns, for a scenic drive as your hostess shares the city’s fascinating history. Your first stop is Dolphin Cove, home to a vibrant family of bottlenose dolphins along with other friendly residents such as lovebirds, stingrays, and even an ostrich named Matilda. Here, you will have the chance to observe dolphins frolicking in their natural Caribbean habitat from designated viewing areas and enjoy free time to shop or stroll through the park’s lush setting. Afterward, change into your swimwear and head to the world-famous Doctor’s Cave Beach, celebrated for its five miles of soft white sand and crystal-clear waters. A welcome briefing will introduce you to the Beach Club before you enjoy free time to swim, relax, or simply soak up the sun. Whether capturing photos of dolphins at play or unwinding along Montego Bay’s most iconic shoreline, this excursion offers a perfect mix of discovery and relaxation.

Bamboo Rafting on the Martha Brae

Rafting is one of those rare pleasures to experience in Jamaica. The Martha Brae River is blessed with lush banks, sweet air and nature's soothing symphony. Your mode of transportation is a 30 foot bamboo raft with seating for two. A raft captain navigates the meandering river while telling you the tale of Martha Brae, an Amerindian maiden who was tortured by Spanish soldiers to reveal the location of a secret gold mine. While leading her captors to the mystery mine, she summoned magical powers drowning herself and the soldiers. Ponder the legend as your friendly captain poles you downstream for an approximate 90 minute ride. Once at the termination point, you'll board your bus for a sightseeing journey through the town of Falmouth before making a brief stop at the Shoppes at Rose Hall. Your tour concludes with a return sightseeing drive through the port city of Montego Bay to the cruise ship terminal.

Gourmet Tour - Caribbean Cuisine, Art, Culture, And Rum Tasting

Become immersed in the pleasures of local life through a remarkable variety of authentic experiences. You will see the artistic side of the islands while browsing the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, whose collection ranges from modernist paintings to traditional crafts made with natural materials. George Town’s vision of the future will be on display from atop the observation tower that rises 75 feet above Camana Bay, a cutting-edge New Urbanist town designed around the principles of sustainability. The views will be especially panoramic as the topography of Grand Cayman is flat. The distilling of rum on the island is also a relatively new enterprise as you will discover by tasting a variety of premium spirits made from local ingredients. Still, it is the cuisine that may be the most revealing. The menu for your meal at the 1908-built Grand Old House will include courses that are classics and others that are highly inventive.

Sights & Crystal Cave Experience

Walk through a series of inland caves formed eons ago and admire the island’s natural beauty while driving along the coast. Pirates once used the Crystal Caves as hideouts and legend has it that treasures are still buried in their depths. While following a winding trail through the ancient caverns, you will see eerily illuminated stalactites and stalagmites, a glass-smooth underground lake and a cave whose ceiling collapsed ages ago. The guide will describe how the caves were formed and the wonders that lie within them. Back on the surface, you will settle in for a panoramic coastal drive, during which you will pause for photos at the Wreck of the Ten Sail memorial. It commemorates the convoy 10 British ships that wrecked on the reefs just offshore in 1794 in a massive maritime disaster. You will also stop to witness the coastal blowholes that spew ocean water as high as 20 feet into the air.

Rhythms & Flavors Of Grand Cayman

Sample some of Grand Cayman’s most characteristic rum, beer and cuisine and discover how they are produced using locally sourced ingredients. Rum has long been associated with the Caribbean as it is typically made with sugar or molasses, two products prevalent in the islands. Grand Cayman is no exception as you will discover while touring a rum distillery, after which you will be offered a tasting of the spirit. The island may be even more well-known for its cakes made with barrel-aged spiced rum, which you will enjoy during another sampling. A tasting at a local brewery will reveal some of the tropical flavors such as mango that are used in the production of beer. Although jerk-style cooking may have originated in Jamaica, it has long been long popular on Grand Cayman. However, the spices can be somewhat different, which you will likely notice at yet another sampling.
